Activant Vision is a highly scalable, centralized client / server system architecture that runs Microsoft’s .NET framework on the client side and IBM’s U2 embedded relational database on the server side. Users interact with Vision using PC’s or thin client terminals directly or through a business-class DSL or better internet connection.
On the server side, Vision is largely platform agnostic, running on IBM, Dell, or HP hardware in Windows-server, Unix, or Linux environments. Server choice is a function of enterprise size and your technology preference. A central Vision server can comfortably support from 10 to 3000 users. The size and configuration of the server is a function of use and number of users.
On the client side, a 600 mhz. PC with a minimum of 256K memory, running Windows 2000 or better, or an XPe-class thin client capable of launching a browser is required.
