Wireless Mobility Application
The Wireless Mobility Application integrates the Activant Silk system with various hand held devices, including BlackBerry® and Pocket PC. This integration will benefit a variety of Activant Silk users across your organization by giving them real-time access to crucial information via a powerful communication tool.
Who Will Use The Wireless Mobility Application?
Mobile owners, managers, corporate executives, salespeople, service technicians and IT people in your organization as well as your own customers. The Wireless Mobility Application will enable users to conduct business while in transit or at an number of off-site locations: their home office, hotel rooms or customer sites.
What Does It Do?
The Wireless Mobility Application provides access to the Activant Silk system by communicating through wireless technology, such as cell networks or Wifi Hotspots. This wireless solution offers you all the standard functionality of a wireless hand held unit (including phone, e-mail, instant messaging, Internet access, calendar, organizer, etc.) as well as access to a collection of Activant Silk functions (including Inventory Lookup, Order Entry, Field Service and CRM).
Through a live connection to the Activant Silk system, users can conduct inventory look-ups and enter orders – all from a remote hand held device.

The service tech in the field can create an order, recall a work order, record hours of labor, add parts, complete an order and submit it wirelessly to the Activant Silk system.
With the Order Entry module you can create an order from a mobile location that covers:
- Product selection
- PO Number
- Customer details
- Submission to the Silk System
- Ship-to address
A mobile salesperson working in the field can take an order, check inventory status, confirm a customer’s price level, save an order to be recalled later and complete and send an order – all through an electronic device the size of their palm.
CRM (Contact Relationship Management)
Activant Silk’s CRM integrates with the wireless devices’ contact information and tasks. The user can access the same information as SAGRO®’s CRM functions including:

BlackBerry Units: Through a cell network
When you are "in range" (i.e. within a wireless area covered by a cell network) you receive, send and use the Activant applications working with a combination of live and cached data. We've developed an intelligent caching system in which some of the data is cached in order to speed up the applications.
When you are "disconnected", or out of cell network range, you use the Silk applications using only cached information; once you get back into range, you simply send and receive updated information.
Pocket PC: Through WiFi Hotspots
Using the Pocket PC, you will always use the Silk applications using cached data, and will send and receive updated information when you get to the WiFi Hotspot or your office.
This real-time access and capacity to work off-line helps your staff become more efficient by allowing them to enter information and complete orders as the situation dictates - rather than waiting until they can arrive on-site.
