US LBM Goes Live with the Activant Catalyst Software

Activant completes installation at 15 locations in under 90 days

LIVERMORE, Calif., March 15, 2010 – Activant Solutions Inc., a leading provider of business management solutions for lumber and building materials (LBM) dealers, today announced it has completed the initial installation of the Activant Catalyst® software at 15 US LBM locations in Wisconsin, Connecticut and New York. The Activant implementation team was able to install the software, convert key business data and train hundreds of employees across three states in under 90 days.

On October 31, 2009, US LBM completed the purchase of all Stock Building Supply locations in Wisconsin, Connecticut and New York. Hardware and software to run the business were not included as part of the agreement, and the US LBM management team had a 90-day window to replace Stock's Infor solution. After a thorough review of potential solutions, US LBM selected the Activant Catalyst software.

Activant employs a large network of support professionals across North America and was able to place an Activant trainer at all 15 locations to train US LBM employees, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system. The learning curve was also shortened by the Activant Catalyst software's easy-to-use interface based on Microsoft's .Net framework. “Our previous system required days and days of training. The same personnel are up and running in only an hour or two on the Activant Catalyst system,” continued Hein.

The US LBM implementation illustrates the versatility and scalability of Activant's support services. The company's implementation teams are expert in converting data from legacy and custom systems, and training personnel on the use of the new Activant systems.
