September Story of the Month*
This month's story is from Vernon Lyon with Mainline Automotive Parts in Baltimore, Maryland. Thanks Vernon!

Last winter, an elderly gentleman walked up to the counter all bundled up for the cold weather and explained that he needed heat for his 1966 VW Beetle. Since he wasn't more specific about what was wrong with his heat, I decided to take a look at the car with him. We walked outside, I opened the driver's door and there, looking back up at me through the floorboard, was the pavement under the car!

On further inspection, I found several holes in the floorboard on both sides. My puzzled look must have given me away as he immediately began explaining that no air comes out of the holes in the floor, only through the holes underneath the dash. By this point I was thinking, "Huh?!" Having no idea what he was talking about, I bent down, looked up under the dash and sure enough—there were even more holes! My only thought now was, "how the heck does this car keep from falling apart?"

"So," he said with a straight face, "can you do anything to get me some heat?" I looked him in the eye and said simply, "We can always build a fire under it!"
